Great, useful book

Karen Overall's book is a must have for any dog (or cat) trainer. The writing is clear and concise, which can be a challenge when explaining complicated jargon.

Great reference

Very comprehensive, thorough reference with lots of supplemental materials. Considered one of the major references in small animal (dog and cat) behavior. Dense reading, not for some laypeople but indispensable for those dealing with small animal behavior professionally.
A more accessible, shorter reference for those without the academic background is "Decoding Your Dog" by the ACVB. I own both.
